“It’s grim. It’s grim.”
That was what Aimee Mann said to Salon.com when asked to comment on the 2012 election. Actually, she was talking about her new album, Charmer, out since Tuesday, but all conversation nowadays is drawn inexorably down into the election drain. It’s a very honest, heartfelt, non-crazy read, and I strongly suggest you read the whole thing.
But the point is still this, that this election is making grim grinches out of all of us. The election is damn near engineered to make people exhausted and jaded, ensuring that only the most volatile vote.
She’s right, and we should thank her for her wisdom by watching the fabulous new music video for her single “Labrador,” in which she recreates her music video for 1985′s ”Voices Carry” with help from Jon Hamm (does he just not like going home?). As amusing as the recreation is, nothing can ever top the hilarity of the bad boyfriend from the original. Do your homework by watching the first gem here:
