1320.1762574434.custom Celebrate 10 Years of LifeCycle I previously posted this month about Reagan’s impending Centennial, his reprehensible history with AIDS education and prevention, and just what the Hell are any of us going to do about it?

Well, in case nobody’s noticed, HIV and AIDS are no longer death blows.  Thanks to drugs like AZT, and thanks to charity events like the AIDS Walk and LifeCycle, the medicine is more effective and available now than ever before.

LifeCycle is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year.  It’s a 545 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, June 5-11.

The man pictured is Ian Griffith, his brother is my very good friend Adam Griffith.  Ian lives in San Francisco and was diagnosed with HIV three years ago.   Thanks to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Ian is able to live a healthy and active life, as he’s been able to have access to free testing, counseling, as well as access to excellent health care.  He’s making the 545 mile trip and is looking to raise $5,000 by June. He’s made about $750 of that so far.

If you want to know how to do your part for AIDS prevention, treatment and research, this is it.  You can make donations easily through the website in any manner of your choosing, for as many increments as you’d like.

Help do some good this summer.  And for those of you in Los Angeles who can’t afford to donate, Adam Griffith and I will be organizing a welcoming party for Ian when he reaches his destination.  Be a smiling face and a warm handshake for Ian when he reaches the slightly less healthy air of LA.

Be Better Than Reagan.  That’ll be our new motto!
