clock tower back to the future Gay News: Why Do We Always Have to Cut Things So Damn Close?

*You know who’s not gonna like a President Santorum? WOMEN.

Well, as I said yesterday, women aren’t going to fare very well under a Santorum presidency.  That theory was pushed forward today, ever so slightly, when Santorum Super PAC donor Foster Freiss, who coincidentally made his money off of assets and investments and not delicious soft-serve ice cream, went on MSNBC today and said, heh, that debating contraceptives is “sex-obsessed” and not like it was in his day.  Behold, the awkward pause!

Ha! The “gals”!  Mr. Freeze, do Santorum a favor and keep yourself quiet and money-pumping.

Put a pill between your knees, ladies!

*The New Jersey Marriage “Theater” just entered its second act.

The other day, the New Jersey Senate passed the Marriage Equality Bill with 24-16 majority.  YAY!

Today, the NJ Assembly passed it on a 42-33 majority.  YAY!

Governor Christie has said he will veto it.  BOO!

However, because our lives are always one big Back to the Future movie where we’re cutting things so damn close, we have until the close of the legislative session on January 2014 to gather the 3 Senate votes and 13 Assembly votes that will override Governor Christie’s veto and send us right back to 1985!

Well, hopefully, not 1985. There was a lot of AIDS then.

Call Governor Christie’s office and tell him this is baloney! (602) 292-6000

Or you can write to the swing Congressmen!  I’m not sure who voted what.  Just make one stock email and fire it at all of ‘em!

Or if you’re a little lazy, Facebook anybody you know in Jersey, and tell THEM to call Christie.

*YES on 74!  NO on 8!  Eh, I’m gonna stay home…

Washington Governor Gregoire has signed her state’s gay marriage bill into law!  Washington is now the 7th state in the nation to allow gays to marry!

Not yet.

Gays will not be able to partake in marriages in Washington until after the November elections.  A freeze has been put on the new bill pending a voter referendum, yes another Prop Gr8.  This time, Prop 8 will be known by another name…REFERNDUM 74!

If Prop 8 is Beyonce, Ref 74 is Sasha Fierce.  Or if Prop 8 is Lady Gaga, Ref 74 is that guy with the weird beard character she does.  Or if Prop 8 is Nicki Minaj, Ref 74 is that Roman Zolanski thing no one liked at the Grammys.

My point is, Ref 74 is just like Prop 8, only more confusing and even less welcome.  Our opponents are gonna try every gays-are-child-pornographers/priests-will-be-fired trick in the book to lure votes their way.  If that fails, they will sway the others with confusion on if it’s YES on 74 or NO on 74.

For the record, it’s YES on 74.

Seems like with New Jersey’s passing, Prop 8′s overturning and now Washington’s referendum, it appears as if 2012 is one big “GREAT NEWS!” “What?” “Find out this Fall!”

See Last Story for Details.

*God comes for Mr. Perkins

I believe in religious speak, this is what’s known as a “reckoning.”  I’ve always heard from people of faith that they don’t like being grouped in with the anti-gay religious talking heads on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and the halls of Congress.  My response is always the same.

I can’t do anything about it.  They won’t listen to me.  The only people they’ll listen to will be people like you.  You need to hold your own accountable.  I’ve got my own people to hold accountable.  Bitchy gay attitude-slinging Starbucks baristas, bitchy gay attitude-slinging Virgin Airlines stewards, bitchy gay attitude-slinging Barnes & Noble booksellers…

So, it appears that people of faith are finally taking matters into their own hands!  A group called Faithful America delivered 20,000 petitions today to MSNBC to demand that they sever ties with Tony Perkins, the assumed closet homosexual star of slasher originator Psycho.  No, no, they mean TONY Perkins, the assumed closet homosexual lie-monger of the Family Research Council, a group that has lobbied against gay rights for years and one that in 2010 was labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for…well…lying about their “facts” about gays in order to stir the pot of public gay attitudes until it turned acid green.

Mr. Perkins is a constant “friend of the show” on multiple MSNBC shows.  He comes on, says his fact-lies, and is asked to come back time and time again.  Perkins has appeared on MSNBC 23 times since FRC was labeled a hate group.  MSNBC wants “another opinion” on an gay rights issue, they call Perkins.

Here’s a question: WHY?  The things he says are flagrant lies, and it is obvious that his only mission is to set a fire.  Faithful America isn’t having it anymore.  He’s bullying gays, he’s giving Christians a bad name, and this media circus has gone on long enough.  I say brava, and…I hope it works.  Here’s some fun clips of Perkins saying “gays are pedophiles” a bunch of times, followed by a friendly “thanks for coming on the show, come back anytime”:

In other I’m Catholic as Hell and I’m Not Gonna Take This Anymore news, Dominic Holden of The Stranger has a brilliant/scary investigative look into how money from collection plates are used to directly fund things like rebuilding the church roof.  No?  Keeping charities going.  No?  Funding Prop 8 and others like it.  Bingo!
