So, a key Senate Panel today officially rejected the Public Option in President Obama’s health care plan. It was rejected 15-8. 15-8! In a Democratically controlled senate– talk about a death panel. This already toothless plan is now…what? I don’t even know. Are we heading for some sad realization, like with the Writers Guild Strike, where the strikers made a piddly deal and then went on to act as if it were David vs. Goliath?
Change is slow, but Americans in particular have a tendency to settle for less in the spirit of ending conflict and debate and getting back to our regular lives as soon as possible. The men, women and families that would benefit the most from the public option, being the most easily misled saps this side of the small-town citizens of The Music Man, are reduced to hysterical screeching. And Glenn Beck has played no small part in leeching away whatever small ability these people had left to listen to reason with accusations of socialism. Did you know the Rockefeller Center architecture is actually a Communist design?? That Mr. Beck, he’s so well-read. Or maybe he’s just very well…RED. See what I did there? See how easily I sewed seeds of doubt into your mind? Beck and I should have lunch together! It’ll give me a chance to finally try out the poisoned drink switcheroo bit.
Adam Sass said he wanted to POISON AND MURDER Glenn Beck?! That’s exactly how the major media outlets (that’s right, folks, it’s not just FoxNews we can’t trust anymore to not sensationalize) would pose it. Joe Wilson interrupted President Obama, and the whole next day showed nothing of how well Obama handled difficult topics– it became dedicated solely to Joe Wilson’s outburst of “You Lie!” It took a matter of seconds before discussion turned to “Did Obama lie?” YEESH!
What are we going to do? *shrug* The public option still exists in other forms in another Senate Bill and several House Bills. Maybe. Our country consistently votes against its own interests, so… how do you help a friend in need when they don’t want help?
