With New Jersey fast-tracking its gay marriage bill, other states are not far behind (Washington State is prepping one as we speak– a full run-down of that tomorrow). NOM, the National Organization for Marriage, is the leading money-making machine out to kill all these gay marriage bills, outside of the Catholic and Mormon Churches. But then again, NOM is secretly the Mormon and Catholic churches, so there you have it.
HRC, the Human Rights Campaign, identified by those little yellow equal signs on blue backgrounds, has uncovered that NOM is planning a full-scale attack on the New Jersey marriage bill to the tune of $500,000. Yes, that’s $500,000 to fight one state’s bill. $500,000 of donated money. Are we in a recession, or aren’t we? Do we have half a million dollars to spend on one state’s marriage bill, which is far from a lock (the governor has said he would veto it), or don’t we?
Our opponents say they think government should “award” special gifts of marriage to straight couples to promote propagation of the species. They don’t want to promote gays in some sort of cohabitation paradise.
To the first point, if anything, the human race faces endangerment from overpopulation. The lack of new land, the using up of limited resources, the lack of jobs, the melting ice-caps, on and on. That is a problem of too many people. I don’t think Americans need incentive to fuck without thought of consequences.
To the second point, granting gays marriage rights would severely deplete the amount of lawless cohabiting that’s been the watermark of our community. Because we have no other options.
These two points are so obvious, I’m led to believe that this is all a question of money. Too little money: giving same-sex partners social security benefits and health benefits and tax benefits will cost a dollar and a cent, yes. And too much money: these NOM benefactors are using $500,000 to battle New Jersey Equality because they wish to intimidate us as much as they require those funds for operation. What will the $500K be used for? Robo-calls will be all but useless with a vote coming so close. The most likely reason is to use the money to punish Congresspeople who vote for us. They tried to do that in New York, and they’re still trying.
It’s all bullying. It says, “We are in the worst economy since the Depression, and we can still come up with a million bucks to fight you every step of the way.” When marriage comes to Washington, they’ll come up with half a million again, and again, and again until they are found out for Voter Fraud or Tax Evasion or some other thing that would make me very happy.
So, NOM, blow the money of cowed, misled churchgoers and chicken chains. You’ll never make it. We’ve got the endurance, and we’ve got the RIGHT THING on our side. You have to use half a million dollars to convince people because you don’t have a good enough point.

That is so sad and very depressing (those rings look very nice though…just saying?
)
Half a mil. Jesus. Whatever it takes. Sick of the bullying. Had my share of it too. It doesn’t work especially when you have those with determination.
