We continue our journey into “Buying 4 Equality’s” Guide to what business are LGBT-Friendly and those that are not. Keep in mind the criteria are in regards to their domestic partner benefits and political contributions. Those that are LGBT-Friendly are not casually so. There is an extra effort made. Those that I list that are listed as “Unfriendly” may not necessarily be hostile, they’ve just taken no time to extend benefits. However, in today’s climate, there’s no excuse for letting something slide. Inaction is just as damaging as hostility.
Enough seriousness, let’s get on with the game!
First, let me wrap up last week’s entry by touching on Fast Food Joints:
THE FRIENDLY ONE IS…. “Taco Bell!” That’s right, Surprise, Hipsters! Jack in the Crack may have hipped up their image like Target, but they ain’t that hip. Turns out it’s good ‘ol Taco Bell came through with the benefits, after all. I guess this is the upside to the coin of “Too Big to Fail.” Taco Bell might just be too big to fuck up.
THE FRIENDLY ONE IS… “McDonald’s!” Well, they certainly are the scapegoat for a lot of people’s health fervor, but you can’t deny McDonald’s endless socially-conscious efforts. They are the only fast food joint to offer full and equal benefits to domestic partners, both in the stores and in the executive levels. Not to mention that they are the leading fast food-ery to convert green. Burger King landed itself weakly in the “Needs Improvement” category, securing the image in my mind of the King character as one of those older gays who is out but not quite up all this “activist business.” And as for Wendy’s….Wendy…I could think of something mean to say, but I think I’ll just show you this picture again:
Check back later today, for the next installment: Entertainment.

Hi – very great web site you have created. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to publish a comment to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically delightful. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor for a marketing firm. I have always enjoyed functioning with computers and am trying to learn computer code in my spare time (which there is never enough of lol).

Thanks for writing about this. There’s a lot of great tech information on the internet. You’ve got a lot of that info here on your web site. I’m impressed – I try to keep a couple blogs fairly on-going, but it’s a struggle sometimes. You’ve done a great job with this one. How do you do it?
