Just had a brilliant class at Improv Olympic tonight. We did space work, working with imagined objects and props. It opened up so many doors. What with this, and what I discovered in theater classes, it is now official. I am an outside-in actor. I just need those objects, that grounding, those hard consonants, and then I’m into the scene like mad.
Such revelations!
This, my fourth class, and my second class were by far the best. So, as it stands now…odd number classes, I feel like I got my ass kicked; even number classes, I’m on top. I’m such a superstitious old grandma that I’m actually nervous already for class number five.
Afterwards, saw the iO group King Ten, which included Dave Hill, the marvelous man who taught my second class. The man is my kinda comedian. Relaxed but excited, charming but rough, high marks for vocabulary, full scale range of voices, and I am a fan of bravado, and he’s got it. Just a pure pleasure to watch Mr. Hill.
Oh, I’m gonna break that odd class cycle!
